Basunti Retreat Centre.

A Creative Journey Through Himachal Pradesh

One of my assignments took me to Himachal Pradesh in northern India, where I photographed and filmed Basunti Yoga Retreat for its new website.

Set beside a lake and surrounded by gardens and countryside, Basunti offers yoga retreats in a peaceful rural setting. My work included photography of the accommodation, grounds, and daily life at the retreat, along with video to help convey the experience of staying there.

David, who founded Basunti, took me to the lake to witness this quiet moment as a fisherman returned to shore, his boat gliding across the still water. A simple scene, yet full of rhythm and atmosphere, reflecting the timeless connection between people and the water.

Basunti and the Punjab

During my visit to India, I also had the opportunity to photograph everyday life in a small farming village in the Punjab. I was accompanied by someone who grew up in the village and whose parents still live there. We spent an afternoon walking through the fields and narrow lanes, meeting people and observing the rhythms of daily life.

As the afternoon drew to a close, the low sunlight fell across the fields and village streets. I photographed farmers at work, people going about their day, and the quieter moments in between.

This reel captures everyday life in a Punjab farming village—from the fields to the narrow lanes, where work and community flow together. A glimpse into a way of life rooted in the land and carried by tradition.
