I recently had the privilege of documenting an extraordinary moment for the British Hen Welfare Trust (BHWT): the rehoming of their one-millionth hen. The BHWT has long been dedicated to giving hens a second chance at life, rehoming those retired from commercial egg production into loving pet homes.
The milestone was made even more special by the fact that the one-millionth hen found its new home at the Highgrove Estate, rehomed by King Charles himself. It was an incredible opportunity to capture this unique moment in the BHWT’s history, as well as the care and dedication that makes their work possible.
A short film created for the British Hen Welfare Trust’s 20th Anniversary, featuring Ben Garrod and highlighting the incredible work of the charity and its volunteers—from rescuing hens on farms to placing them in loving new homes.
I was thrilled to see the video I created for the BHWT’s social media platforms become their most successful post ever, reaching over 850,000 views. It was wonderful to know that the story resonated with so many people, helping to highlight the importance of rehoming and the life-changing work the BHWT does.
